Wesley Sneijder

Is the Dutchman heading to Old Trafford?

Wesley Sneijder June 2011: “I love Inter with all my heart, but I don’t know if I’ll stay. The Inter fans have always treated me very well. They were wonderful and I want to simply thank them,”

“Only God will decide where my future lies. I can be certain of one thing: if I remain at Inter, then I will give my all to win everything again.”

“Cristiano Ronaldo June 2008: “What do you want me to say? That I’m going or I’m staying? I don’t know about the future, only God knows it. I can’t say any more.

“Am I motivated to continue at United? I am always motivated. I am ambitious and I want to always improve. I don’t know the future but I will be motivated.”

None of this means Sneijder’s going anywhere of course- after all even Ronaldo gave United another season after his non-comittal in 2008.

Sneijder’s statement could mean any number of things, although you’d be hard pressed to argue its an emphatic declaration he’s determined to stay in Milan.

When you look at the players in the market;Javier Pastore,Eden Hazard,Honda, etc. You will understand the reason why Wesley Sneijder should be the only name that Man United should be callhng.Sir Alex Ferguson should do whatever it takes to bring him to Old Traffor. He’s got great technique, composure, power and accuracy in his shot,he is imposing,he has the mentality of a champion,He is good for Manchester United. He is the only player for Old Traffor.

As an Inter fan, I’d certainly be sad to see him go, but I can see it happening if United are willing to stump up good cash for him.

Sneijder is certainly a quality player is certainly the sort of player Ferguson was talking about when he said about wanting to close the gap on Barca.

However with the way the English market has been the past 6 months, you have to imagine Sneijder must be worth about 50-60m at least (if an out of form Torres is worth that much, Wesley definitely is!), not the 35m being quoted by the papers.

Another thing that could play a huge role in this deal is Inter’s pursuit of Kaka. Leonardo has already identified Kaka as a potential target for the summer and you’d imagine with him coming in, there wouldn’t be space for both him and Sneijder at the club.
