United reserves lost 2-1 against Arsenal last night in the league’s opening game.

Goals from Sanchez Watt and Chuks Aneke were enough to defeat Warren Joyce’s side, that contained Darron Gibson, Tomas Kuszczak, Diouf and Darren Fletcher.

The Scottish captain completing 90 minutes means that it wasn’t all bad news for the Reds who scored through Diouf before he went off injured in the second half.

United: Kuszczak; Cole (Lingard 84), Brown, Fryers, M.Keane; Pogba, Fletcher, Norwood (Petrucci 84), Gibson, Drinkwater, Diouf (W.Keane 57). Subs not used: Johnstone, McGinty.
