Manchester United lost on the night but won on aggregate and progress in the Europa League to meet Athletic Bilbao in the last 16 of the Europa League. The game itself wasn’t too great but on the night it was Javier Hernandez’s goal which proved decisive in progression.

There were a few contenders for Man Utd’s man of the match last night. One was Rafael, or was it Fabio? Rafael was very enthusiastic at right back, made many challenges and did okay going forward. He was booked however having won the ball I thought it was a bit harsh.

Javier Hernandez who scored the decisive goal in the tie is another contender. He didn’t stop running, chased lost causes and got his reward early on in the game. It was good to see him start for Manchester United.

Having analysed all the contenders, my man of the match has to be David De Gea.. The young Spaniard played brilliantly. There wasn’t much he could do for each of the goals however he made some fantastic saves. He was mostly composed and made some good out from the back.

Do you agree? Who was your man of the match? Feel free to comment below.
