David De Gea- Two terrific saves at the end, but still, still he can’t defend corners. Pressure now off him, though. 8

Patrice Evra- Made good use of his third and fourth lungs today. His aggressive running eventually yielded a penalty. 7

Rio Ferdinand- Uncharacteristically sloppy in his passing, but made some good interceptions and two or three well-timed tackles. His partnership with Jonny Evans needs work. 6

Jonny Evans- Scored an unfortunate own goal and was nervous throughout. Evans has improved this season, but once Jones and Smalling return he has to be dropped. 5

Rafael- Another wonderful attacking display. Combined well with Valencia and delivered several dangerous crosses before being substituted mid-way through the second half. 7

Ryan Giggs- Chipped a beautiful cross for Chicharito’s equaliser and tortured Chelsea’s defender from start to finish. Another immaculate display by our evergreen Welshman. 8

Michael Carrick- Another fabulous display. Carrick commanded the midfield, whipping the ball from flank to flank and defending with discipline. 8

Ashley Young- Young was disappointing on his return to the side, exiting before the hour. 5

Antonio Valencia- His terrific control and dribble set-up the attack that ended in Chicharitio’s equaliser. Asked to play right back for most of the second half, but remained one of United’s most dangerous attacking players.  9

Wayne Rooney- Ice cool from the spot and the conduit that linked United’s midfield and attack. An impressive showing, especially for a player returning from injury. 9

Danny Welbeck- Made intelligent runs and won a penalty. Asked, perhaps unfairly, to play on the wing and was subbed with five minutes left. 7

Paul Scholes- After replacing Rafael, he dictated play from midfield. Should never have retired. 8

Javier Hernandez- Absolutely terrible for the half hour that preceded his goal, absolutely brilliant for the two seconds that defined his performance. 7

Ji-Sung Park- On for only five minutes. N/A

Hernandez was not terrible at all. He made good runs and neat touches, including the one lay off for Rooney to shoot. Apart from one missed shot, he was lively and did well before the header.

Bit harsh to say Chicharito was ‘terrible’ for his half an hour before the goal.

Rio was subject to some quite bizarre booing from the Chelsea fans, god knows why he got booed when hes remained so dignified about the race row involving his brother. This must have had an effect on his performance……

The Editor suggested, ha ha Paul would play this game.
Remind me how that worked out?
Why would we rate your ” points for players”.
Listen and watch new kids on the block.

The booing of Ferdinand was disgusting. Not sure what they were thinking, this is obviously why Terry was stripped of the captaincy, not because he was guilty but because of how he effects people around him. Hernandez did what he does best.

Evans was pathetic today, the sooner jones is back the better, he can’t concentrate for 90 mins and there’s always a mistake in him.Him and rio were bad today.

As much as Valencia has played superbly recently, I don’t think his performance today was a 9/10. He was fairly quiet relative to his usual self and didn’t get to attack Bosingwa down the touchline as much as we’d have wanted – I’d say 7/10 would be a fair rating.

Carrick was awesome. Has to be a contender for Player of the Season. I echo the oher comments regarding Herdandez – he did really well when he came on.

To be down 3-0 was really harsh but great performance overall. Need to cut out defensive mistakes but form is returning.

Hernandez is the best finisher we have since ruud, how he does not start ahead of wellbeck is baffling , his movement is great and Rooneys like a different player when he plays with him, welbecks touch is poor and he slows our game down , we came to life today wen he came on, even fergie said he should ave started him,
