De Gea – Always looked confident when passed back to from the defenders and even made a decent save to keep yet another clean sheet. 6

Rafael – Overlapped Valencia countless times to provide support for the attackers and always looked dangerous with his crossing. Assured at the back and won many aerial headers. 8

Evans – Really shone with his attacking play. Beat his man, played a good pass and then made his way into a dangerous attacking position. Simple but effective. Assisted Nani’s goal with a wonderful pass. 8

Ferdinand – Read the game well and dealt with all the attacking threats with ease. 7

Evra – Looks to have found a good patch of form recently and he carried that into the game today. Stronger with his tackling, smarter with his position and more lethal with his crossing, he also got himself yet another assist. 8

Valencia – Threatened the Villa defenders all game and forced some brilliant saves out of Given. 7

Carrick – Made a number of clever interceptions to break up the game but always looked to play the ball out calmly. 7

Scholes – Passed the ball around seamlessly all game with some mesmerising cross-field balls. Pushed further up the pitch than usual and even looked likely to score. 8

Young – Involved in yet another dodgy penalty decision early but didn’t have the best of games either. 5

Rooney – Credit to him for getting himself two goals because he really didn’t look like a professional footballer today. Touches were off, slow with his movement and lazy with his passing. 5

Welbeck – Dropped deep and connected well with the midfield, his hard work finally paid off as he got himself a much deserved goal. 7

Subs:

Nani – Showed glimpses of class that he rounded off with a well taken goal. 7

Berbatov – Controlled the tempo to his liking by slowing the game down and spraying passes to the wingers. 6

Cleverley – Involved with most of our attacks late on, he showed a lot of promise with his energy and creativity. 6

Because evans has put together a season of the quality he probably should of had a few seasons ago suddenly he always scores one more than ferdinand who is invaluable to our defence at the moment. Maybe im being to harsh but am i the only one who still thinks evans has a way to go? & he’s already 25

You gave Rooney a 5, who scored 2 goals… and Berba, who played 15 mins a 6.. Fail.

@MP. Being handed a couple of goals on a plate (including a penalty) does not equate to Rooney having a good game. He was at his abysmal worst, spraying shots all over the place when shooting for goal, doing next to nothing creatively or in defense, and handing the ball back to Villa so often that it seemed as if they had 12 players on the pitch – at one point he had four successive possessions in which he turned the ball back over to the opposition. The rating given him was generous – I would have found it hard to justify giving him a rating of 3.

Berba on the other hand did nothing wrong in his 20 minute cameo and put in some nice touches – as well as holding on to the ball when approached by the defense, which Rooney proved incapable of doing.

So all in all, a 0 for you in terms of your silly assessment and your scant knowledge of football.
