United booked their quarter final tie against Chelsea or Middlesborough with a 2-1 win over Reading at Old Trafford in the FA Cup thanks to goals from Nani and Chicharito.  Jobi McAnuff gave the visitors a glimmer of hope with a goal late in the game, although all in all it wasn’t the most testing of evenings for United, who enjoyed a pretty dominant game, especially in the second half.

Nani was the star of the show, coming on for Phil Jones who was injured in the first half. The Portuguese winger, who’s had his fair share of critics this season, was in a rampant mood, hitting the post with a long range effort not long after coming on.

Nani gave the Reading defence a torrid time and although late on in the game, his passing reverted back to the sort that angers many Reds, for much of the match he was easily the best player on the pitch.

Sir Alex will no doubt be pleased a potential replay has been avoided, although the injury to Phil Jones took some glimmer off an otherwise happy night for the Reds.
