Will Sir Alex see Ron at Old Trafford again?

The emotional return of a United legend was on Tuesday was almost swept  under the carpet as a Turkish referee and a Scouse striker dominated the news for the next three days.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s reception at Old Trafford, not to mention his reaction both during and after the game, where he seemed visibly moved have poured a little bit more petrol on the flames of United re-signing the Portuguese winger.

While any move for Ronaldo would seemingly break the Glazer’s bank balance, kit sponsors Nike could make such a dream actually become a reality if reports are to be believed.

It is understood United officials have discussed a deal to bring Ronaldo back at a meeting with kit manufacturers Nike on Friday.

They discussed extending their sponsorship deal but also on the agenda was the subject of funding a bid to sign Real Madrid’s Ronaldo, who they sold to the Spanish club in 2009.

Ferguson has played down talk of a return for the forward and it remains unlikely, but it is understood  the finer details of financing a move will be considered today at the meeting in London.

Bringing Ronaldo back may seem too good to be true to many Reds, but considering how he’s not always enjoyed the best relationship with the Madrid fans, he may have seen the reaction of the Old Trafford faithful as a reason to spend the Autumn of his career, where he belongs…
