United are set to offer Wayne Rooney a new four year deal worth a staggering £52 million according to the latest reports.
The powers that be at Old Trafford are keen to tie Rooney to United for the rest of his career and aren’t afraid to spend the cash to do so. Since David Moyes took over as United boss Rooney has enjoyed something of a renaissance which has seen his stock rise with many fans who were disillusioned with his antics during the Summer when it appeared he could be on his way to Stamford Bridge.
The fans got behind Rooney and may have influenced his decision to stay at the club, as could his relationship with Moyes which seems to be a lot stronger than the one he had with Sir Alex Ferguson. Rooney’s current deal expires Summer 2015 and United are keen to avoid letting him walk away from the club without a fight.
