“Ryan you said this job would be easy…”
Tuesday morning brought the news that almost every United fan had been hoping for when the club confirmed that David Moyes was leaving the Reds after less than a season in charge.
It’s not great surprise that after a campaign which has seen exits from the domestic cups at the hands of Swansea City and Sunderland, a 3-0 home win over Olympiakos, the only win in the last four Champions League games and the Reds now sitting in seventh in the Premiership, something had to change. Add to that list, the negative tactics, poor press conferences and supposed player dissension it’s was obvious Moyes had to go sooner rather than later.
Ryan Giggs is now in charge for the remainder of the season with the likes of Louis Van Gaal, Carlo Ancelotti and Jurgen Klopp amongst the names being suggested as the next United boss. Despite the poor league standing and the obvious players that need to be moved on due to age there’s still a whole host of talent at the club, men who’ve won everything there is to win and youngsters hungry to do the same.
Although people may look at the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, Michael Carrick and the departing Nemanja vidic and claim the squad needs a massive overhaul, there’s still Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernandez, Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie, Rafael, Jonny Evans, Phil Jones, David De Gea, Juan Mata, Shinji Kagawa and Chris Smalling to choose from. Add to that a young Belgian winger and the future of Manchester United under the next boss may not be as bleak as many are predicting.
