Red target is off to West London…

United’s interest in Colombia’s Juan Cuadrado has come to an end with news the winger has signed for Chelsea. One of the stars of the World Cup, Cuadrado was reportedly on Louis Van Gaal’s radar, but it seems the former Fiorentina man preferred a move to Stamford Bridge.

The Mail notes:

Chelsea have signed Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina for a fee of £26.8million.

The Stamford Bridge club made the 26-year-old their primary target for the January transfer window.

Cuadrado flew into London on Saturday and has now completed his move.

It’s disappointing that a player of Cuadrado’s quality is joining a side United are already some way behind but with defensive targets such as Mats Hummels and Marquinhos thought to be Van Gaal’s priority in the Summer, it’s no great surprise the manager didn’t make more of an effort to sign  a player many were waxing lyrical about in Brazil.
