The youngster pushes Tom Beadling

Tyler Blackett saw red for the United’s under 21s tonight as the side draw 1-1 with Sunderland. The young defender was given his marching orders in the 54th minute after a push in the face of one of the Black Cats players.

Blackett will also be banned from the first team during the next three games as the ban counts for all levels. Although the Mancunian has barely featured for Louis Van Gaal’s side since the opening month, Blackett has still made the breakthrough this season and tonight’s red card will come as a blow to his chances of being considered for the first team in the final months of the season.

Conditions were windy at the Stadium of Light but the ten men of United managed to cope for the final half hour despite having a man less and will be more than happy with taking a share of the spoils. Andreas Pereira opened the scoring for the Reds before Mikael Mandron levelled for the home team. Blackett in the mean time will have to learn to curb his temper if he’s to regain his first team place.
