Could the youngster be heading to Manchester?

The transfer window has already thrown up a few surprises this Summer, not least Fabian Delph’s shocking u-turn regarding his move from Aston Villa to the Etihad.

United have been no stranger to hitting the headlines as the signing of Bastian Schweinsteiger took everyone by surprise- the story barely breaking at all until only hours before the deal. Never ones to be ignored during a transfer window champions Chelsea have kept their name in the papers with the surprise acquisition of Radamel Falcao, which shocked United fans more than anyone due to his poor performances last season.

The latest surprise on the media horizon seems to be one involving Everton’s young talented defender John Stones who a few days ago looked set to be heading to Stamford Bridge. United have been reportedly monitoring the situation in no small measure due to Stones’ superb performance against Louis Van Gaal’s side last season.

However LVG and Ed Woodward may not bother as according to the latest reports the defender could be on his way to Manchester- to join City.

The Daily Star notes:

The Citizens are known to be interested in the talented England international and could trump both Manchester United and Chelsea to secure his services.

Bookmakers have reacted to a significant flurry of bets for Stones’ Etihad arrival by slashing their odds from 25/1 to 4/1 in the past 24-hours.

The former Premier League champions have already English trio Raheem Sterling, Patrick Roberts and Fabian Delph to their ranks, and appear keen to add another exciting home-grown talent to their collection.

It’s very rare the bookies get it wrong and with so many punters having a flutter on Stones to City it appears that’s where the youngster is heading.
