Will the skipper start today?

United face Chelsea at Old Trafford today in what could prove to be Louis Van Gaal’s last game in charge of the Reds following a run of seven successive games without a win.

The past few weeks have seen United dumped out of the Champions League and beaten by Bournemouth, Norwich and Stoke City in their last three league games. Many pundits predict that even a win today may not be enough to save Van Gaal’s job but it remains to be seen just how close the Dutchman is to the sack.

United need not just a win but a performance to win over the crowd who’ve become restless following an awful run and severe lack of goals. With Bastian Schweinsteiger returning from suspension and Matteo Darmian back from injury here’s how the side could line up:

[4-2-3-1] David De Gea, Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Daley Blind, Michael Carrick, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini, Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney.
