Is the former Barcelona man set for a move?

Victor Valdes time at United could be finally coming to an unceremonious end with reports the former Barcelona keeper is set for a surprise move to Belgian club Standard Liège during the transfer window in a loan deal.

Although any loan deal is temporary it could mean the end for the Spanish keeper’s time at Old Trafford with Louis Van Gaal seemingly keen to offload a player he’s publicly fallen out with.

The Independent notes: “Victor Valdes has been offered an escape route from Manchester United with Standard Liège ready to take the goalkeeper on loan until the end of the season.

“The former Barcelona keeper has been told he has no future at Old Trafford by the manager, Louis van Gaal, following a dispute last season, which centred on the 34-year-old allegedly refusing to play for United’s Under-21 team.”

Not many United fans will be sorry to see the back of Valdes after his lack of playing time and public falling out with the manager. It’s best for all concerned if the former Barcelona player finally moved on.
