Another twist in the Reds pursuit of the former Spurs man

Another twist in the Reds pursuit of the former Spurs man

United’s on/off pursuit of Gareth Bale looks as though it could be more ‘off’ than ‘on’ following the Real Madrid stars recent hat-trick over Deportivo La Caruna. It had been thought that due to his close relationship with Rafa Benitez, Bale would be tempted to leave but according to reports he may yet stay in Spain.

The Times notes on tomorrow’s back page:

“Gareth Bale has indicated that he wants to stay at Real Madrid for as long as he is allowed to play in his favoured position. Bale was dismayed at the sacking of coach Rafa Benitez last week and remains a transfer target for Manchester United who have been working for several months to try and lure him back to the Premier League.”

A lot depends on whether new boss Zinedine Zidane uses Bale in a central role or shifts him out on the wing, but with the goals flying in at the moment life at the Bernabeu looks rosy, let’s just hope for United’s sake things change.

Bale could be just the signing that reinvigorates United this Summer and would certainly be a marquee transfer, we’ll have to see how this one pans out. Watch this space…
