A win over the Reds’ historic rivals could give United the huge boost they’ve needed since a run of poor results drained the confidence of everyone associated with the club. A loss could prove to be the final nail in the coffin on Louis Van Gaal’s Old Trafford reign. Both United and Liverpool have endured patchy form of late, with Jurgen Klopp still finding his feet at Anfield while Van Gaal struggles to get the balance between defensive solidity and attacking effectiveness.
