Can Rooney continue his goal run?

Can Rooney continue his goal run?

United travel to Anfield tomorrow in a game that could have massive repercussions for both the team and the manager. A win over the Reds’ historic rivals could give United the huge boost they’ve needed since a run of poor results drained the confidence of everyone associated with the club. A loss could prove to be the final nail in the coffin on Louis Van Gaal’s Old Trafford reign. Both United and Liverpool have endured patchy form of late, with Jurgen Klopp still finding his feet at Anfield while Van Gaal struggles to get the balance between defensive solidity and attacking effectiveness. Many United fans were heartened by the recent 3-3 draw at St James’s Park as despite letting a two-goal lead slip the Reds showed the sort of creative flair the fans have been crying out for since Sir Alex Ferguson left.

With Michael Carrick out injured and Bastian Schweinsteiger unlikely to be risked, here’s how the side could line up in tomorrow’s 14.05 kick off.

[4-2-3-1] David De Gea, Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling, Daley Blind, Ashley Young, Marouanne Fellaini, ,Morgan Schneiderlin, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney.

In my formation I’ve gone for Darmian at RB, with Juan Mata on the right of an attacking three in midfield, Herrera just off Rooney leading the line. Do you agree this is the side Van Gaal will go for?
