Renato Sanches

United target Renato Sanches could be heading to Old Trafford sooner rather than later with European football journalist Andy Brassell telling BT Sport the Reds are on the brink of signing the teenager.

The Benfica star is being chased by several clubs including Spanish Giants Barcelona.

Only two days ago The Mail noted:

Barcelona have earmarked three players to freshen up their midfield options this summer, with Benfica youngster Renato Sanches topping the bill as the Spanish club look to life after Sergio Busquets.

The 18-year-old Portuguese starlet is a transfer target of the Spanish giants, who are also keen on bringing Borussia Dortmund talent Julian Weigl and Nacional’s Sebastian Perez to the Nou Camp this summer.

The Portugal international is also wanted by Manchester United and Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira flew to England for further talks last month.

It would be a huge blow for Edward Woodward and United if a player who’s been so openly coveted by the club ended up choosing the Spanish giants instead. That may have moved the club to act sooner and try and sign Sanches before Barcelona do.
