Could the former Ajax man be off to North London?

In one of the more surprising transfer stories doing the rounds this weekend, Arsene Wenger looks set to try and lure Daley Blind to the Emirates, according to the latest reports.

The Arsenal boss is thought to be a big fan of the versatile Dutchman and could exploit Jose Mourinho’s pursuit of other defensive options, to try and tempt Blind to North London, although you thought the Frenchman would have a keener eye on Euro 2016 starlets rather than an experienced campaigner.

The Mirror notes:

£16m Dutch defender Daley Blind has emerged as a target for Arsenal , with Mourinho yet to make a decision on whether the versatile star is his type of player.

Blind was used at centre-back last season, but Mourinho believes he’s too small for that role – which has put Arsene Wenger on alert.

Many United fans would be shocked if Blind did end up leaving Old  Trafford, especially for a rival as the Dutch international enjoyed a great campaign last season, playing more than any other United player and stepping up to become the Reds’ most consistent defender, especially during the latter part of the season.

Mourinho and Wenger’s hatred of each other is well documented so the only way this transfer happens is if Jose decides with Eric Bailly arriving at United, plus reports he’s interested in Leonardo Bonucci, he doesn’t need Blind anymore.

It’s doubtful Mourinhi would let Wenger get any player he wants, but stranger things have happened.
