Will Zlatan get gold before he comes to Old Trafford

You’ve got to love Ibrahimovic, even by today’s standards of egotistical footballer’s the Swedish striker is something special. Not content with keeping the world guessing as to where he’ll be playing next season, it now appears the former PSG, Barcelona and AC Milan star wants to pick up an Olympic gold medal before he begins his next league campaign.

The Independent notes:

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is looking to delay his move to Manchester United in order to represent Sweden at the Olympic Games in Rio, according to reports.

With an offer to join United on the table with wages in the region of £250,000-a-week, Ibrahimovic is yet to confirm where he intends to play football next year, although it appears that a move to Old Trafford is favoured by the striker over any other destination.

When dealing with someone like Ibrahimovic it’s safe to say you have to pander to some of his whims and if it means the player will miss a few weeks of the new season- the Olympics would end a week after the Premier League starts. It’s not ideal though, having a 34 year-old striker playing two tournaments this summer before he comes to United.
