Juve star set for Old Trafford?

Leonardo Bonucci has been identified by Jose Mourinho as his main transfer target this Summer according to the latest reports.

The 29 year-old Juventus defender is currently at the Euros with Italy and it’s being reported United are preparing to make a bid for him once the tournament ends.

United face stiff opposition for the former Bari star’s signature though, as Chelsea are also thought to be desperate to sign the defender – reuniting him with former manager Antonio Conte.

The Star reports:

“Jose Mourinho will go head-to-head with former club Chelsea to sign Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci. The new United boss, who has already signed Eric Bailly, wants to bolster his defence.”

While Bailly is arguably a defender who’s one for the future and may take some time to settle in the Premier League – he’s only 22- Bonucci is one of the most experience defenders on the planet, having played almost 400 club games and over 50 times for his country – dating back to 2010.

The big question is can United tempt Bonucci over his former boss and the bright lights of London? If Mourinho can pull this one off, maybe he really is the Special One.
