Tevez, still waiting for his first Trophy at City after winning the lot with United

According to a report in the Daily Mail Carlos Tevez, was absent from training yesterday after being given the day off due to an injury to his daughter, Katie.

The one year old, lives with her mother, whom Tevez is estranged from, in Argentina, but is spending some time with her father, along with her older sister.

For the City home game against Wolves Tevez carried both his daughters on to the pitch as mascots and part of the reason many believe he may leave Eastlands in the Summer is to be closer to them.

Despite the horrific accident which cut of the tips of several of the toddlers fingers, she made a full recovery after an operation to repair her hand.

The Mail reports that:  “Tevez has been left deeply distressed by the incident.”

As one would expect City’s most prolific striker has assured the club he will be ready and willing to play in the derby later on today.

Whether the incident will affect his performance remains to be seen, although it certainly cannot have helped his state of mind, for a game in which he is  guaranteed to get a hostile reception to say the least.

With Rio Ferdinand missing, many expect Tevez to cause United several problems and it’s expected that the relatively inexperienced Chris Smalling will be left with the task of trying to keep him under wraps.

Despite my dislike of Tevez, I for one am glad that  an accident to his baby daughter will not stop him playing, now if Rafael were to get hold of him in the tunnel…..well that would be a different matter.
