Nani argues with Phil Dowd

It'll be a couple more weeks before we see Mr Da Cunha

Sir Alex Ferguson’s press conference this afternoon was something of a mixed bag for United fans, with both good and bad news. First the bad news, Ferguson stated that Antonio Valencia will not be figuring against Arsenal.

The United boss said:“Antonio Valencia won’t play tomorrow but he’s training very well.

He’s played in a few practice matches but at some point we’ve got to try him in the cut and thrust of first team football.”
It was better news on the Nani front with Fergie noting that the terrible gash he suffered in the cynical foul by Jamie Carragher at Anfield is not infected.

Sir Alex said: “Nani’s gash has been stitched up which is great news as he’s avoided infection.

“It’s difficult to give an exact date of when he’ll be back, he might not be available to face Bolton [19th Match] but should be ok after the international break.”

This also means Nani will obviously miss the Marseille game but at least he’ll play some part this season which was far from assured following the Liverpool Vice-Captain’s disgraceful lunge.

Other news is that Rio Ferdinand will play no part tomorrow and neither will the scourge of Arsenal Ji-Sung Park.

Ferguson also stated that he won’t be predicting an easy ride from the Gunners.

Sir Alex said: ” We expect a difficult game and so will they [Arsenal].

“These games have always meant something and are always competitive.

“It’s an interesting game and we’ll play our strongest side available.”

Arsenal are not without their own injury problems with Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott, Wojciech Szczesny, Thomas Vermaelen and Alex Song all out of tomorrows FA Cup quarter final.
