United put City in the shadows by winning the European Cup in '68

You could almost feel sorry for the people of Stockport, just when they finally see their beloved club come within touching distance of a first trophy since 1976 they then learn it could come only half an hour after United make history yet again.

According to reports in today’s papers City are unhappy at the fact that Manchester United’s 12.45 kick-off with Blackburn means The Reds could win an historic 19th title half an hour before the FA Cup final.

The People notes:

“Premier League chiefs last night insisted they WON’T delay Manchester United’s potential title winning game at Blackburn even though it could overshadow neighbours City’s attempts to win their first trophy in 35 years.

“If results go United’s way they could clinch a record 19th league title onMay 14th – half an hour BEFORE City play Stoke in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

“Some senior City figures and fans believe United’s game should be delayed 24 hours to allow the final to be given proper prominence.”

It all has the feeling of 1968 when City won their first league title in over 30 years only to see The Reds become the first English club to lift the European Cup a week later.

Never mind, with a bit of luck we can do our ‘noisy neighbours’ a favour by winning the league before the game at Ewood.

Don’t worry, City fans, I have a feeling my team will beat United to the finish. Go Chelsea!

    Hahaha, quality.

‘Some senior City figures and fans believe United’s game should be delayed 24 hours to allow the final to be given proper prominence.’

‘Some senior City firgures and fans’ seem to have quite a bit to say these days. I think The People got this from Tribal Football, Motty.
