Not since a woman decided to put her neighbour’s cat in a wheelie bin has the British media been as outraged as they were at Wayne Rooney’s sweary celebration at Upton Park yesterday.
It’s not as though Rooney had just scored arguably the most important goal of the entire Premier League season after being constantly booed and jeered by the West Ham fans.
Here’s a clip of it and be warned he does say the F-word so parental explicit advisory whatever applies.

I don’t like this show of chavtastic attitude by Rooney. He’s been letting himself down for 12 months now, and when he grabs a hatrick, he spoils it by doing this.
For me, it’s not just that the mic picked up on his language, but he directed it down the camera, knowing it’d be heard by millions.
I don’t think it’s how our players should behave, whether it’s all over the papers or not.
Angry over Rooney’s swearing outbust at West Ham? “Na bad belle be that” (borrowing a phrase from Nigeria pigin english). Shame to the English press.
Rooney just gets worse and worse. I don’t care for the guy, even though he’s starting to play brilliantly again.

I have nothing in common with him, not even a love for MUFC.
