Ashley Young

Is the Villa winger destined for a starring role next season?

Acoording to Skysportsnews Aston Villa’s prize assett is undergoing a medical at Old Trafford.

The winger’s representatives held talks with United earlier this month and personal terms were agreed. He is now thought to have had a medical and is expected to complete a five-year deal with United, who are hoping to make an announcement by the weekend.

Although I think Young is a good player is he really what united need? I dont think he is! we already have, probably got the two best wingers in the premier league in Valencia and Nani.
Although he will bring something a little different with his more natural play on the left handside I dont think this is an area on which we need to concentrate just at the minute and 20 million is alot of money for someone who has no experience in the Champions League.

Hopefully I will be proven wrong by Sir Alex as there aren’t many signings he doesn’t get wright. Although i wish he would put the 20million of this transfer money on a central midlfielder such as Cesc Fabregas or Bastian Swensteiger.

we have not good left wing. giggs is old, nani is not so good on left…Young is very good. Now we have to buy CMF,that is most important for next season! WELCOME ASHLEY!

An english international who if nothing else can provide cover and competition for at least 3 places in the team. Can you imagine nani, valencia and rooney were all injured at the same time.. Great signing imo.

Agree about schweinsteiger though, he’d be my #1 target this summer.

Agree Young can play in a couple of different positions but so can Nani and Valencia! Im a big fan of Andersons but come on in reality is he really better than Fabregas.

IF (IF!) he signs, then good – he is a quality addition & IF, then WELCOME & GOOD LUCK, ASH … which would also confirm my theory, that not every Ashley has to be bad human being … :-))) UNITED ALL THE WAY!

He is good player but Nani is by far better than him. Anyways he is a good addition.

Great signing. He will be 50 times better on the left than Nani. His free kicks are be better than Nani’s. He won’t fall over as easy as Nani. He won’t be likely to have his head turned by Madrid like Nani and he will be a more consistant performer than Nani, who has had one good season only (or make that three quarters of one good season)

Seriously? 2 goals after taking pretty much all freekicks Villa earned is good? Have you watched any Villa match at all? Young falls over like he was a clay soldier. Makes Nani look like elephant man!

you are right about one thing though: he won’t get his head turned by Madrid. Don’t reckon they’ll ever come calling for him.

He’s a good average player. Nice addition to the squad but at 26, a tad too old for my liking for being a squad player.

Young is a good buy, has prem lge experience can play a few positions and has no issues with climate and language etc.

Next fix up centre midfield del rossie and snejider be great but diarra and defour would be more likely

Im very interested in how Young is going to fit into the team. Not only that, im also interested in how Nani is going to fit into the team next season. Sir Alex obviously has a plan. I must admit i agree with guy who wrote the article, i see no point paying 20 million pounds for a winger when Man Utd arguably have the best two wingers in the premier league.

Rumoured to be getting 130k a week, if I was Nani I’d have to laugh.
It took time for Nani to get to the level he is now. But 130k makes little sense when Nani’s still on something like 70k. Poor Nani, how ever will he pay the bills
