Samir Nasri

Will the Frenchman be plying his trade in Manchester next season?

Both United and Manchester City are set to place bids for Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News notes:

“Sir Alex Ferguson will forge ahead in his bid to make Arsenal’s Samir Nasri the final part of United’s summer transfer business.

“The Reds have been quickest out of the traps in the buying stakes and have already broken their club record for close-season buys.

“United crashed through the £50m mark with confirmation of the signing of goalkeeper David de Gea from Atletico Madrid for around £18m on a five-year contract.

“The 20-year-old Spaniard follows Phil Jones and his fellow Englishman Ashley Young to Old Traffrd.

“But Ferguson is still after the last and most important piece of the jigsaw as he targets a replacement for retired midfield playmaker Paul Scholes.

“Nasri has shot to the top of the Reds’ wanted list after interest in Tottenham’s Luka Modric and Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder stalled.

“A deal for Sneijder isn’t dead in the water, but the cheaper option of the Gunners’ Frenchman is now proving an attractive alternative for the Reds.”

Meanwhile ESPN notes:

“Reports in talkSport also indicate that Nasri’s representatives have already spoken to Manchester City’s representatives about a possible transfer.”

Personally I think Nasri would be a useful addition to United’s squad, however if the Frenchman would rather earn more money playing in front of far smaller crowds at a far less successful club then City are welcome to him.

City will no doubt be the more desperate of the two sides to add to their squad, having failed in their bid to tempt Alexis Sanchez to Eastlands.

Bit of a no brainer this. ManYoo have already spent their next three years transfer money on two very average English players and an untried Spanish goalkeeper(All Galactico’s) It’s ‘big boys’ rules now so leave the big buys to those who can afford it!

money doesnt buy success and never will…no matter how many millions ur dumb sheikh owner throws out we’ll always have our name , reputation and history to snatch that player away from you TWATS!!!!

and as far as nasri goes, we’ll see whether he fancies anothr 5 yrs of no trophies or winning the premier league and the champions league!!!!!

bit of a no brainer this one city tried to sign the players utd wanted but got lost along the way with a scout saying they found the next big thing it was a one legged man they seen kicking a tin can around and said sign him up he only wants 200k a wk to sit on the bench and laugh at how fxxking thick city were to fall over everything to get him

  2. MCFCMANIAC says:

City will be the more desperate of the 2 having failed in signing alexis sanchez. Must have selective memory as im sure Yoonited failed in their attempt to sign alexis sanchez. Personall as a biased united fan i think nasri would be a useful addition to united’s squad….bla bla bla….jay jay okocha would be a useful addition to your squad you have lost it. Nasri might want to join a club with ambition its clear as day to every supporter around apart from united fans with blinkers that city are on a rise and very close to surpassing united performance wise….hold the history comebacks noone cares!!

    • red kid says:

mcfcmaniac : shut up bout ur performance crap …ur team is worst than chelsea…at least they bought trophiess.unlike shitty…spend another 200mil pounds u will be winning the carling cup next season..congrats in advance

How much you spent so far this summer? Does this mean you’re buying the league? You can’t have it both ways Cyclops (google it)

        • jetelinho says:

even though bad english … still TRUE it is THE WORST be it worst then …, still the worst. Hitler-practises, BinLadin´s family as owners – well, just one word that describes PIty: ULCERS!!!!!!!!!!!

          blue carlos,

we are spending money so we can compete with the likes of barcelona…as you can see we didnt do to well in that in the past 2 years at that…unfortunately city doesnt know the meaning of a champions league…they do know however how to spoil careers of top talent…look at dzeko…the same can most likely be said for nasri if he his to go to eastlands…i will say silva is an exception

    • Eoin says:

It really baffles me how deluded man ” hity fans are they think that because there sugar daddy spends some money on them over 1 billion if you include the cost in buying the dustbin you think you have a Devine right for success instead of earning it your lot can spend all the money you like it doesn’t garauntee success man utd learnt that the hard way by nearly going bankrupt trying to buy success in the 80,s unless you have the right manager with the right attitude that builds from the youth team up to the first team your bot going to get continued success keep living in the shadow of utd

    • XerxesTheGreat says:

LOL you are a mercenary team without soul, all your success now and in the future will be tainted and you will never be remembered as a great club. Enjoy the ride while it lasts, the UEFA will stop your stupid spending next year and your owners will leave you when you win nothing of note.

Ooooh City are a massive club.

Uhm… Why would you be commenting on a website about Manchester United?

    • Blue Carlos says:

Cos its about City too and on News Nows City page dumbo

    • bobbydazzler says:

Uhm… When half the post is about city, not united? It’s flagged up on newsnow as a city article. not surprising when you read the body of it. As for being worse than chelsea, I presume the person posting has already forgotten last years fa cup. If he can spell fa cup (doubtful looking at the rest of his post)

  4. MCFCMANIAC says:

Jaimin, you can very well sit and comment about comments made from a manchester city fan on a manchester united page whilst sitting watching your flat screen tv in outer mongolia, i 2nd the comments above you are buying very standard players and an unproven goalkeeper….with a tiny bit of luck it will all blow up in your face!

  5. SiRed says:

Typical city fans running their mouth, reading papers and believing there own hype. Blue moon is rising? Maybe so but your still a million miles away from winning a trophy that people care about!
I’m sure city is a club invented for people who know absolutely nothing about football.
Young and jones average???? I suppose James Milner and jolean lescott are world class eh? Keep dreaming, keep rising and keep reading united websites.

  6. Stret Dave says:

Typical utter nonsense from misguided big floodlight followers.. No doubt season ticket holders from Edgeley? How hell can lame brains like you come out with the pathetic stuff you all churn out without expecting total ridicule from reds?? You’ve been threatening about this surpassing thing for the last 3 years and you’ve finally managed an FA Cup – Wow eh boys! We’re shaking in our boots here. Like I tell the few citeh bores that I know, understand this – no matter what money is donated to you, & what you do or don’t win, you will NEVER be half the club United are and you silly little fools know it deep down so do us a favour & shut up. If not carry on cos it is f**king hilarious…

  7. Isaidso says:

Hahahahahaha – how amusing from the City fans saying the players United have signed are average and City are going for better! Yet said players Jones and Young City fought United tooth and nail to sign – that must hurt. Also the fsr better players you have bought, were so much far better that they had to stand and see UNited win the PL and after sugar daddy had spent how many billions? What you going to do with the new finacial rules coming in from FIFA? I think you will find that debt or not, United generate far more income every year than City, and so we can manage the debt – and we don’t have the council house gifted to us to play in! Also City are so United obsessed that every time UNited are just slightly linked with a player City just want to rush in because United are interested in someone. Who is obsessed with who eh?

  8. bob hoskins says:

That De gea fella reminds me of Massimo Taibi. Remember him? He was excellent.

    • Eoin says:

It’s funny how you city idiots can try to slag off the players that utd have bought considering the history that city have. At least when utd bring players in it works 99% of the time that’s the difference between utd and !hity and why we are successful and city never have been and unless your lot start to think for themselves instead of trying to buy any player that utd want your never going to have success because what player would ever choose city over utd if he ever wanted to win things. Most players with ambition would allways choose to play for iconic clubs like utd or Liverpool even arsenal or Chelsea or even everton you lot have got a long way to go before you can even be spoken of in the same breath as utd.

    • kevin says:

yaa and the name bob hoskins reminds me of a dude that i beat to death with a cricket bat… wanna se the replay u JACKA$$!!!!

    • mladen man.utd says:

those city fans just talk about Man.United… why? because City have no past and future,no one talk about them….poor… 🙂 GGMU!

    • hellboy says:

I see city or i mean shitty have asked ikea to be there new sponsor as they need a whole load of benches and lockers for all the bench warmers and wages they are paying to greedy fxxks who within a season want to leave the club, u know nothing about de gea and look at zdeko who was sais to be one of europes best ha 30mllion on a player who couldnt score a goal in an empty net, city are copy cats trying to do what utd do and then the fans all wearing the scarf the same as mancini next the papers will say city have signed some of there own fans cos someone said they seen him score in a sunday game ha

  9. Sundaywest says:
