David has not had the easiest start to life at Old Trafford, although anybody with any patience will realise that at such a young age, time will be needed and with some guidance United could find themselves with a true long term first choice on their hands, in a position that has been notoriously difficult to fill. However, regardless of mistakes, it was hard to find fault with De Gea for what happened during an Under 21 game for , where events seemed to be simply a matter of extreme misfortune rather than any particular mistake when, while leading 6-0, De Gea found himself lobbed by an outrageous back heel that was hit a little too well, by one of his own defenders. Luckily, the goal had no bearing on the result as Spain ran out 6-2 winners, but he will no doubt bemoan the bad luck that fell upon him that particular evening.
