Ashley Young is relishing the chance to finally play in the Champions League according to reports. The former Aston Villa winger has yet to play in Europe’s top competition and is eager to prove his worth on the elite stage.

Sky Sports notes:

“I’m very excited by it,” said Young.

“Coming to a club like Manchester United and playing these big competitions is any boy’s dream.

“I’m looking forward to being able to say I have played a in the Champions League.”

Playing at a club with the stature of United brings its own unique pressure but it’s something the former Villa winger is accepting and thriving under.

“I have been delighted with the performances I have put in so far but the matches are coming thick and fast and you have to be on your toes and ready every time you pull on the shirt,” he added.

Young has been superb so far for United and there’s every reason to expect him the cause Basel all sorts of problems tomorrow night.

    One thing for sure if he is playing against Basel it should increase his confidence after his no show against Stoke on the weekend.
