A booking... *sigh

The injury Chicharito suffered at the hands of a reckless Ashley Cole challenge on Sunday is not a serious as first thought according to reports.

At first it was thought the striker would initially be out for at least two weeks, but now reports suggest there’s still a chance he could actually be back in the squad for the Stoke game this weekend.

ESPN notes:

Despite fears over Hernandez’s fitness for United’s next Premier League game against Stoke on Saturday, the player’s agent claims the striker suffered no more than “just a bump” and will return to training this week.

“[The injury is] nothing, it’s just a bump, nothing more,” agent Eduardo Hernandez told Telivisa. “I expect him to be training without incident on Wednesday. It looked like [his absence] was longer, they were looking for a fracture, that’s why they ran those tests on him.”

Ashley Cole was booked for the challenge and despite replays showing its a clear red card offence, the Chelsea defender will not face an FA charge. There’s a surprise…..

Could have been a lot worse for Chicharito, it was obvious Cole had no intention of getting the ball at all.

A sickening challenge that the referees are letting United’s opponents get away with week in week out.
