The FA have charged Suarez

Racism statements are like buses, you wait ages for one then….okay, even I wont bother with that ridiculously lame joke but today has seen three statements regarding the Suarez-Evra incident.

Firstly the FA issued this statement:

The FA has today charged Liverpool’s Luis Suarez following an incident that occurred during the Liverpool versus Manchester United fixture at Anfield on 15 October 2011.

It is alleged that Suarez used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards Manchester United’s Patrice Evra contrary to FA rules.

It is further alleged that this included a reference to the ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race of Patrice Evra.

The FA will issue no further comment at this time.

This was followed by a statement released by Liverpool FC which read:

The Club this afternoon received notification from the Football Association of their decision to charge Luis Suarez and will take time to properly review the documentation which has been sent to us.

We will discuss the matter fully with him when he returns from international duty, but he will plead not guilty to the charge and we expect him to request a personal hearing.

Luis remains determined to clear his name of the allegation made against him by Patrice Evra.

The Club remain fully supportive of Luis in this matter

Meanwhile Sepp Blatter removed his shoe from his mouth just long enough to make this ridiculous statement:

‘I would deny it. There is no racism, there is maybe one of the players towards another, he has a word or a gesture which is not the correct one, but also the one who is affected by that.

‘He should say that this is a game. We are in a game, and at the end of the game, we shake hands, and this can happen, because we have worked so hard against racism and discrimination.
‘I think the whole world is aware of the efforts we are making against racism and discrimination. And on the field of play sometimes you say something that is not very correct, but then at the end of the game, the game is over and you have the next game where you can behave better.’

Blatter’s comments would defy belief if they were made by anyone else other than a man who seems to be oblivious to the amount of offence his archaic drivel can cause.

As for the Suarez charge, a few weeks ago, on this site I wrote an article noting how despite all the various blogs and posts, Evra hadn’t played the race card before, over 100 Liverpool fans were quick to dismiss my claims via comments and pledge their support for Suarez. The question now is, the club may be fully behind the Uruguayan, but are the Liverpool fans?

    • karan says:

ur name sayys it all….u bumptious moron….lemme call you a dumb fuck black nigga and then say im sorry and try to shake ur hand as if nothing happened….what will you do….shake my hand and walk off…if you seriously do that then u have no balls….plus suarez is a player who is always in the limelight for all the wrong reasons…never the right ones…plus most of the times hes the instigator…so if the FA leave him with a simple punishment….then it’ll be proven without a doubt that FA are biased!!!!

The fact that it took the FA a month to release such a vaguely worded statement infers that they/Evra/Man U don’t have a leg to stand on.

    • Craig says:

Haha bye bye Suarez. He bites an ear off in holland and now throws racist abuse towards a man utd player. Him and tevez are a disgrace to foitball

    • RedScot says:

The fact that the FA, have taken a month to investigate the ‘allegation’are taking the racial abuse allegation seriously .
In fairness they need to react faster and show they mean to ‘kick it out’.I am sure they will up their game and learn as we all do as we move to try to improve the game, and the culture in football.

  3. Phil says:

Yes, I remain fully behind Luis Suarez. The match was filmed by Sky TV and you can be certain that every second has been scrutinised both for audio and video evidence and apparently none has been found. How, then, can the FA prove anything. In my view, no evidence will be presented other than Evra’s word and the matter will be left at that. We all know that mud sticks, but that does not bother the FA.

    • RedScot says:

Why are you behind Suarez because you are a liverpool supporter?.You make a valid point, which you are basing on ‘lip reading’and club loyalty.
Let the approriate authorities do their investigation mate.

  4. red2death says:

I don’t know about blind support for Suarez.

I’m a Liverpool fan, and to be honest if there’s truly evidence of racism, he should be banned.

Conversely, if it’s unsubstantiated accusation, then the appropriate action needs to be taken too. Racism is very bad crime, but so is libel.

Let’s see some evidence here to support whatever decision is made.

    • I think people have been too quick to jump on this and say”The TV camera’s didn’t pick it up, so he’s lying”.

If Suazrez isn’t proved guilty, he wont be proved innocent either, so Evra shouldn’t receive punishment at all.

The one thing for me in this is that Suarez has apparently said he came out with something that isn’t offensive/racist in his own country and/or Spain…and what he’s apparently said does contrivene the FA rule book as it states in their statement. For me, it’s as wrong as him driving on the wrong side of the road over here because they drive on the right in Spain. It doesn’t wash for me, and I think he along with John Terry need the relevant punishments.

      • RedScot says:

A great anology mate, regards driving on the wrong side of the road.Spot on!.
I had not thought that through to if Suarez is not found guilty. The FA, must have a fairly solid case, based on the length of time of the investigation.Someone is going to have to be made an example of to stop this ‘nonesense’.

  5. RedScot says:

I think before we start a slanging match between the two Clubs, United and Liverpool thats not helpful.Take out the colour of the shirt you follow.Please.
There are careers at stake here of 4 players.I cannot see how being charged makes you guilty, he simply is going to have to provide a defence to the questions he and his legal/advisors will have to answer. All this evidence as we know is based on television footage and ‘heresay’.Its not conclusive and amateur lip reader’s plus professionals come to the fore.Did none of the other 40 players in the two high profile incidents not hear anything at anytime? Were they not offended as all decent humans would be or should be!.Cmon Lads from both sides of the divide let justice take its course in the proper place not where tempers and fan rivalary is conjusive to reach a balanced view.To me it serves no purpose. Its not all black and white, there are ‘grey’ areas. However innuendo or hiding behind language(regional vagrants) is not acceptable in my view.Wrong is wrong in any language and insulting one another in a venomous way not for human consumption.More fitting for a snake pit.
As for Septic Bladder all football fans of the World, should unite, to remove this very very sad individual. Its one catastrophe after another from him.The unforunate aspect as we have witnessed he hids behind a moat and the drawbridge raised.

  6. I don’t know what drugs Blatter has been on, but how can that man run a bath – let alone the world governing body of football with statements like that?

We all know Suarez was a controversial player before he came to this club, and every clubs have at least one or twos…its why we either love them or sick of them. We love Suarez and what he’s done for this team and for that he gets my support. I believe Suarez is not a racist, its just one of those remarks players said to players to stir each other up during a game. It wasnt meant to be abusive or racially suggestive.

    • RedScot says:

‘Stir each other up during the game’?.If its in your vocabularly its there, its wrong. You cannot hide behind this ‘wind up angle ‘.Its horrible and no place for it in our beautifull game.

    • karan says:

u believe hes not a racist and support him…..what will be your opinion when it is actually proved that he was racist….how can being called a nigro or something like be termed as “stirring up players”

liverpool fans will back suarez cos their a bunch of skinheads

    • john says:

RICK,i dont like your attitude.you cant come on a debate about racism and call liverpool fans skinheads, your defying your reason to comment.

Am done with this. Its like fighting against the impossible.I need to go and feel ma nutz or if I am lucky?.
