De Gea – Didn’t have much to do besides the occasional back pass. 5

Jones – Really impressed today with a display shadowing his early season form. Quality cross for the winner as well. 7

Evans – Dealt with the Sunderland strikers well and was excellent late on a we tried to hold on to possession. 7

Rio – Commanding at the back as always, his experience was key in us securing yet another clean sheet. 7

Evra – A real captains performance. Lead from the back, won every challenge and drove his team forward with every attack. 8

Valencia – Beat his marker almost every time and criminally unlucky not to go away with an assist. 6

Carrick – Instumental in the middle. He dictated play to his liking and even looked to go forward himself on a few occasions. 7

Scholes – Magnificent as always. His class was especially highlighted late in the game as he kept hold of the ball. 8

Young – Quiet and sloppy with the ball, his consistent wayward shots from outside the box were his only real notable highlights. 5

Giggs – A brilliant performance which saw him keep hold of the ball instead of his usual silly flicks and tricks. More of the same please. 8

Rooney – Scored the winner with a decent finish but missed another open goal. The story of his season. 6

Subs:

Nani – Came on and kept hold of the ball. Nothing fancy. 6

It never fails to amaze the fine difference between success and failure. I congratulate the boys for coming second, but look to your many sloppy moments this season for not tying up first place! Heres to next season with a couple of strong reinforcements and fewer unforced errors.
And while I think about it a note to the management team: ” stop being half-hearted in your stategy and tactics. Don’t EVER pick a team not to lose, rather than to win again. While we still might have lost the city game with a more agressive team, at least we would have lost with honour rather than the like some mangy cur. The United way is not to be scared, but for other teams to be scared of us. Get it sorted or get out!”
