Players and fans alike will be under football's microscope today.

United travel to Anfield today in a game that promises to be emotionally charged as it’s the first home game for Liverpool since the recent Hillsborough findings. While most of the attention seems to have been focused on the fans, it’s almost been forgotten that even at this stage of the season this could be a vital league game for both clubs.

United will be looking to end a dreadful run at Anfield which has seen them struggle there in the past few seasons while Liverpool know losing to Sir Alex’s side, will compound a poor start which has seen just two points from the opening four games.

With Chelsea winning yesterday it’s important that United don’t let the West Londoners edge too far ahead even at this early phase of the season.

The emotion of the game may play a part and I’m predicting a somewhat disappoiting 1-1 draw.

It’s been a few years now since Liverpool have been a huge presence in Europe. Let’s hope Brendan Rodgers can bring back the glory days..
