United travel to Eastlands this afternoon in a game that even at this early stage of the season could have ‘massive’ repercussions in terms of the title race.

Last season’s defeats to City helped seal United’s fate and for many reds even more disappointing than the 6-1 drubbing at Old Trafford was the game at Eastlands which saw an impotent performance without a single shot on goal from Sir Alex’s men.

This season United have somehow managed to storm to the top of the table, despite a defence that’s consistently leaked goals. With Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs suddenly looking their age, the midfield as become more reliant on the likes of Michael Carrick and a resurgent Anderson.

The loss of the Brazilian to injurt is a ‘massive’ blow to United, especially given the threat of Yaya Toure.

It’s United’s attack which has carried them through this season with Robin Van Persie picking up at Old Trafford exactly where he left off at the Emirates. Let’s hope the Reds can end City’s impressive 37 home game unbeaten run in the league. A United win today would be ‘massive.’

Line up: De Gea, Rafael, Evra, Ferdinand, Evans, Valencia, Rooney, Carrick, Young, Cleverley and van Persie
