Two consecutive defeats

After a very impressive display in the 4-1 FA Cup victory over Fulham, Phil Jones has openly admitted his preferred position is centre half.  The England international who was signed from Blackburn as a defender has actually spent as much time at right back and central midfield for the club, as he has in central defence.

Jones went on record saying it is where he feels most comfortable and can read the game best; and perhaps Sir Alex agrees and he has also recently stated that he feels Jones could go on to be better than Former England captain John Terry.

Despite John Terry being a very unpopular person in the footballing world, he was still an exceptional player in his prime – so this is some compliment from the United manager.

Today the Football Association has charged Sir Alex Ferguson following comments made after the 1-1 draw at Spurs. Is anybody surprised?

Not to get the violin out…. but seriously? If I was Sir Alex – no, if I was Manchester United I would stop giving pre and post match interviews altogether. There is simply isn’t a level playing field when it comes to the FA throwing the book at Manchester United.

Finally, back with the FA but this time to mention ‘The England Awards 2012‘. This is basically a chance to vote for your England player of the year for 2012 – and Manchester United have representation in Danny Welbeck.

Welbeck scored five goals in eleven games for his country in 2012 and is up against some real heavyweights in terms of footballing pedigree.

Good luck Danny boy.
