Tony V and Christian Benitez celebrate against El Salvador.

Hopefully Tony V can take his international form back to club level.

An Antonio left-footed strike is even rarer than a right footed Ryan Giggs one, so you can’t help but feel sorry for United’s number seven. In Ecuador’s 4-1 demolition of Paraguay Valencia scored what would’ve been a beauty only to have it ruled out by a linesman’s flag.

It’s not been a bad international break for Valencia though as his side recently battered El Salvador, 5-0, a game where the winger had a bit of a stormer by all accounts the latest victory can only improve his recent lack of confidence.

For his strike valencia was in an offside position before coming back onside to score- unfortunate but at least he can take solace in the fact he took his ‘goal’ very well.

With United facing Sunderland on Saturday and Chelsea on Monday, the big question is who will Sir Alex rest for which game? Valencia usually gives Ashley Cole a torrid time, but Nani could get the nod at Stamford Bridge due to his recent good form.

Either way let’s hope when Tony V does play, he takes his chances as well as this one:
