David De Gea – A solid game from David, which is now becoming the norm. Some good saves and with distribution better than UPS, he was the basis of a lot of our good play. 7

Rafael – Some say that twins can feel each others pain. Today, Rafael was clearly feeling Fabio’s pain at being overlooked in recent weeks in favour of Tal Ben Haim and Armand Traore. Sloppy on the ball and wasteful at times, it just wasn’t his day. 5

Rio Ferdinand – Classier than people who shop in Waitrose, Rio showed his worth today. His reading of the game and his passing were superb. He also got his zimmer frame out for a couple of quality jinxing runs forward. 8

Johnny Evans – It’s been a while since we’ve had an angry Irish man in our team, but we had one turn up today. Some tough and some rash tackling seemed to be the order of the day for Johnny. Solid, but not outstanding. 7

Patrice Evra – Another great game for Patrice, although some may not want to admit it. He found the perfect balance of attacking and defending. There were also signs of a good understanding with Nani down the wing. 8

Antonio Valencia – “Valencia is starting to look his old self again” is something that many United fans, including myself, have been saying for a couple of weeks now. If it took your car this long to start you’d have rang WeBuyAnyCar by now. Not his best day, again, but thankfully not his worse. 6

Michael Carrick – In the words of Shakin’ Stevens “Lovely Stuff” Not his best game of the season, but Michael was still one of our better players. Passing, intercepting and controlling the game from deep, Michael was really important for us today. 8

Phil Jones – If there were a medal for running about a lot, Phil would have gotten gold today. He was everywhere. Defending in our box to having two good chances to score at the other. In truth, he should have scored, but I don’t think we are ready for that Phil Jones face. 7

Nani – I’m not sure if it was just due to comparison with who we had on the other wing, but Nani looked good today. Direct and the desire to try and take on his man is something we’ve severely been lacking lately. It was a real surprise when he was substituted instead of Valencia. 8

Wayne Rooney – It’s common knowledge that Wayne is a fan of Disney, so it’s no surprise to see him try to recreate Snow White and the seven dwarfs. He looked a bit Dopey and at times he was Grumpy, Sleepy and Happy. However, he played quite well today. 7

Robin Van Persie – You know what you’re going to get with RvP. Goals. Well, goals and pure sex appeal. However, we saw a bit more today. He held up the ball well and brought others into the game. He also put himself about a bit and perhaps showed another side to his game. 9 (A bonus point for making Piers Morgan cry)

Subs:

Anderson – He did well. A few good runs and passes, but nothing to write home about. 7

Ryan Giggs – Old man time almost won it for us. 7

Chicharito – Not really enough time to do much. He fell over a bit. 6
