Spurs players look dejected as the final whistle at White Hart Lane blows and despite yet another wonder strike from their lauded Welsh wonder a 1-0 win isn’t enough to see them achieve the prize they wanted.
United’s interest in Gareth Bale took another twist on the final day of the season as Spurs failed to grab that coveted fourth place spot thereby failing to make the Champions League.
Before the game much of the talk was whether the official greatest player in the history of the universe would be staying at White Hart Lane with the general consensus being he would should Tottenham achieve Champions League football.
Well unfortunately Spurs fell just short at Arsenal beat Newcastle meaning yet again the Gunners finish the season trophy-less but more or less happy as they qualify for Europe’s biggest competition.
Spurs now face an uphill battle keeping hold of a player who despite seeming quite happy at his current club, must surely realise a talent as great as his deserves to be facing the cream of Europe.
There’s no doubt that Chelsea, Manchester City and perhaps Real Madrid will all show interest in Bale this Summer but surely a move to Old Trafford represents the best option for the Welsh international.
Bale has just started a family so a transfer abroad may not be to his liking, while moving to an English club is hardly likely to endear him to the WHL faithful, a move to United may be less offensive to them than a move to Chelsea.
City on the other hand are still manager-less, although Manuel Pellegrini seems certain to take over- have finished the season empty handed and have still yet to ever progress past the group stage in the Champions League.
Moving to the Etihad may be a step up in terms of salary and current standing but historically City arguably aren’t quite at the same level as Spurs and certainly don’t get far bigger crowds as United do.
A player of the caliber of Bale deserves to playing in front of the biggest attendances, for the land’s most successful club in football’s most famous competition, something United can offer him on all three counts.
The question is could United match offers from the likes of City or Chelsea? If the board want to give Moyes the perfect start to his Old Trafford tenure, they may just have to.
Can you see Bale joining United? Will he sign a new deal at Spurs? Is he Madrid bound? Answers below please:

I doubt Gareth Bale could be asked to single handily do it all alone again, for Spurs. I mean even if Bale does decide to stay at Spurs, he’ll carry them alone only to miss 4th spot to Arsenal, which has fast become a tradition. I personally think Rooney is off, and if United can get around £25m plus from Monaco/PSG, I doubt it would be hard for Man Utd to find another £25m, and bid for Gareth Bale. I think Bale would love the chance to play alongside his teenage and welsh hero Ryan Giggs. Oh and people say Unites won’t sign Bale because Fergie’s gone, let not forget Fergie was the one who missed out on the player – Moyes might not!
Sir Alex Ferguson had a reported £60m transfer kitty this summer, while the club is planning to off load the likes of Anderson and Nani. while Wayne Rooney himself has made a transfer request. These player sales would generate enough cash, for Mr Moyes, to make a concrete offer for Gareth Bale!
Alot of deluded ABU’s on here today. Wishfull thinking that United wont be ontop agai next year. Ya’ll spouted the EXACT same rubbish at the end of last season. Fact is, we got RVP and we won the premiership yet again. If Bale leaves spurs, he’ll go to MUFC. fact
I its clear most of comment with sentiment,we all know that both money and trophy go altogether if u realy want to end ur carrer magnificently enviable,Utd can’t offord Bale, presently and the past hw many EPL clubs ever produce richest players in the world both silver wear.Let me all anty utd if D moyes had gotten the quality of players spur gets moyes would have ended up top 4,so Udt have what it takes to bid for any world best and they challenging they bound to win trophies.
why would Bale not want to sign for man utd they can give him champions league football chance to win the premier league play with better players that why Robin Van Persie joined man utd what can tottenham give him second rated europen football Europa League fifth place in the premier league with no trophies
Surely we should be looking to sign Carzola ??? Bale has licence to roam all over pitch at Spurs / breaking team shape, would cost £70m+with Real , City, PSG etc raise price. Carzola would solve our creative midfield problem, Cleverley not going be answer and would cost a lot less giving us ££££ left to spend.
There’s a reason tottenham are trying to sign a contract extension with bale until 2017 and its because ronaldo’s contract runs out in 2015 meaning they will need to replace him (its clear he’ll return to utd) so tottenham want to have 2 years on bale’s contract to bargain with instead of 1 when ronaldo leaves and real attack us with the low blows that you tried with berbatov. Daniel Levy has said loud and clear he will never do business with utd again? Bale will give tottenham until 2015 to get champions league and if they get it, don’t be surprised if he stays, he loves tottenham and avb and can see we are moving forward with huge speed (New training centre, New stadium planned, Best academy in the country) chill out and wait for ronaldo to return because bale will not be coming to utd, not from tottenham anyway!
for sure bale is needed.whether Rooney is there or not, let Bale come in.with the addition of him together with one another midfielder, Manu will be an stoppable!!!!!whatever tottenham can give to bare manu can do too, the name he can make when in Manu, is not the same he can while in Tottenham!!!!and the last thing is that if Moyes signs him, and win the first trophy in his first season, he will continue like that.
I love to bale in manchester united.
Ha.. Bales a bit young to be at Utd .. What with Neville Neville prowling the corridors !!!
