The Palace man has a big part to play next season and it could be central.

Wilfried Zaha will get the chance to show his worth to new United boss David Moyes this Summer as England under 21 boss Stuart Pearce hinted at a more central role with the England under 21s.

Pearce has been suitably impressed with Zaha who’s goals have helped catapult Crystal Palace to the brink of the Premier League.

The European Championships take place this Summer and upon announcing his squad Pearce noted:

“He[Zaha]is enjoying his football,

“You could see that with the smile on his face when he scored against Brighton. He has come on as a centre-forward for the under-21s and if you look at his second goal, it was very much a centre-forward’s finish. He is happy to get in close contact with the central defender, he rolled him and finished very well.

“He is an improving talent who can give you highs and lows over a season. He’s a young man learning the game but his brilliance has got Palace to a play-off final.”

Zaha has always been thought of as an answer to the wing problems United have encountered this season, with the likes of Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Nani all enduring inconsistent campaigns. Wayne Rooney’s recent transfer request means United could need another striker and if Zaha shines in the role this Summer for the under 21s then maybe he could be the answer David Moyes is looking for.

Do you think Zaha could be the answer for United should Rooney leave or is he needed out wide? Feel free to comment suggest and abuse below:

We already have welbeck, rvp and chicharito. He should replace valencia.

  2. Coach Herbie says:

If Rooney does leave, you replace a striker with a striker. Don’t try to make a winger a striker and hope to get the same results. Thats the reason why Rooney put in a transfer. SAF trying to make him a midfielder.

  3. Nathon Woodhead says:

He has the quality to play centrally or out wide. Cannot pigeon hole him in one role.

    It is all about variety.

  4. Bucci says:

If Rooney is leaving then his replacement should be another striker( lewandowski), or we manage the remaining three we have as for zaha he should be used on the wing pls.

Zaha is predominantly a winger however he can do a job in the centre forward position. I would rather see him on the left flank. He has the ability to beat any full back 1v1. He can cut inside and has a wicked shot to boot or can run line and look to cross to a teamate. His crossing ability has improved drastically over the past season and his decision making has made him a real threat in the final 3rd
