Could we really see the return of the artist known as CR7?

It’s difficult not to get excited over the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to United, given the amount of reports emerging of late that a deal could actually be on the horizon.

Part of the problem for many Reds is that it’s almost too good to be true that in a Summer where we’re all lamenting the loss of our most successful manager, the blow could be softened somewhat by the return of one of our greatest players.

The latest reports indicate that United could be closer to regaining good old CR7 than we think.

The Sun notes:

Manchester United have stepped up their efforts to make Cristiano Ronaldo the signing of the summer.

The Red Devils are convinced they can take advantage of uncertainty at Real Madrid to bring him back home to Old Trafford.
And they are prepared to offer £65million plus a player to land the superstar, 28, who is still a hero with the United faithful.

Ronaldo is also understood to be keen on the move.

He has turned down offers from Real Madrid to sign a new deal with only two years left on his current contract.
Real will not give up trying to keep him.

But they have already made contingency plans to bring in Gareth Bale from Tottenham in a switch worth £80m.
They also know that they cannot afford to let Ronaldo’s contract run down and now would be the last chance to get big money back on him.

It’s difficult to know just how adamant Real Madrid at keeping Ronaldo and just how keen the winger is to come back to United but it’s hard to ignore the growing amount of reports that it may just be more than wishful thinking on the part of Reds.

It almost feels like Robin Van Persie all over again….

If Ronaldo has two years left on his contract at RM why would MU be offering 65 million pounds for him? If he won’t extend his contract then RM are in trouble.I’d love to see him back but I just don’t see the logic in paying that amount of money for a 28 year old

erm hes 28 hes got at least 5 seasons left in him id say and hes more experienced now than he was at united plus he would make a tone of cash in shirt sales and also bring more young fans to the club because top players like him always do he will more or less pay for hes self over 3 or 4 seasons so hes worth every single penny just a shame we cant afford to just pay cash cause i dont really want any of our players to go unless nani or anderson

I know for a fact Ronaldo will not sign a new deal whilst Perez is still President of Real and he’s a “dickhead” and he “hates him”. – seen private video evidence of it.

I know for a fact he wants away from Madrid.

Question is, will Real sell, and if they do, for how much? Because we’d all assume he’d love to come back to OT

if rooney is leaving, then it would make sense to include him in the deal for ronaldo. that way we would pay less and also wage-wise be ok. another plus will be that ronaldo can go be in his favourite position (wings where tonyV, nano and young have been horrible) and kagawa can move to his favourite position (rooney’s central position). BUT the question is, will real let him go? and if they do, will they take rooney as part of the deal?
