David Moyes has admitted he’s confident that the United can make some signings this Summer regardless of whether Cesc Fabregas joins the club or not.
The Independent notes: Moyes has hinted that he may be forced to pursue other targets, with the additional problem of the uncertainty over Wayne Rooney’s future.
“I never said I knew we would get him [Fabregas],” said Moyes when asked about Fabregas as his side prepare to face FC Kitchee in Hong Kong today.
“I just said we had made offers. They have been rejected. We will take stock of the situation and decide where we go from there.”
Asked if he was concerned at not having signed anyone by now, Moyes said: “No, not necessarily. We hoped we would, but what we’ve got here already is a really good squad of players. Undoubtedly, we’re hoping to add to it, and I’m confident we will do before the window shuts.”
United are in danger of being left red-faced this Summer with our public chasing of Fabregas and should we fail to sign anyone question marks may be raised over Moyes’ methods before the season even begins. Let’s just hope the new boss doesn’t sign someone just for the sake of it, as it’s vital United get players who can elevate the squad rather than just increase its number.

United wanted a big name from a big club as a marquee signing to show the world life doesnt end at United following SAFs retirement. Maybe Moyes wants to show he is his own man but SAF would have wooed the player he really wanted. Moyes has been at pains to distance himself from the process…..this suggests hes either not that bothered or he doesnt have the confidence to risk a personal rejection from the player. Fabregas isn’t the best player and doesn’t represent good value. His stats are impressive but pretty meaningless, La Liga is not the EPL! He can play in the Prem and he has a big physical presence, something Moyes obviously noted, but he wont make the difference in the Champions League. Thiago and Fellaini were/are available but United haven’t seriously pursued either player and ignorwd Strootman, instead they go for an established player who, contrary to the Media talk, loves Barca and doesn’t want to leave them. In the meantime he hasnt moved on any of the underperforming squad players at the club and Rooney wants to go. Its early days of course and there is still time to do some business but this is a poor start to Moyes United reign.

Moyes have many targets.. but the glazers wont give him much money.. no budget for moyes this summer? THiago has agree to sign for us.. But ed dont want to give an additional agent fee for mazinho,.. Of cos thiago will say that united link is just a rumors, he didnt want bayern fans to think bayern is his 2nd choice or a money grabbing prick,.. united will sign 3 more players this summer,. ANd 2 of them is just an unknown quantity like varela.. dont blame rooney.. I think we just need to sign one more central midfielder. Winger we have many, yes they didnt perform well last season, but give them a chance they will do well.
