According to the latest reports there could be an impasse between Everton and United regarding Leighton Baines.
The Mirror notes:
United are unwilling to pay more than £12m for the defender who turns 29 in December and would have no great resale value.
New Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is adamant Everton do not want to sell and it is believed that Goodison chairman Bill Kenwright is only prepared to let him go for £18m.
Baines has not agitated for a move and sources close to the player say he is ready to accept a wage rise to extend a Goodison deal which has two years to run.
It may not be a popular opinion but personally I’d be quite happy if we didn’t sign Baines, as I still feel Patrice Evra is a better player and can do a job for us without costing a penny until Fabio comes through.

Baines signing for United means you can add 15-20 goals to your season tally because of his crosses and dead ball placement…especially providing service for RVP and Rooney. Simple as that. You dont think you need them…fine…after half a season of Moyes’ displays from tactical yesteryear you may change your minds!
I realy agreed that Evra still a good player so we don’t need Bains because age is not in his side.
