De Gea – Had a relatively quiet afternoon but still aware when called upon. Will be gutted to see the clean sheet slip through his fingers. 6

Jones – Not his best game. Never really got going and looked sloppy in a few instances. Wasn’t too keen to get forward either. 5

Ferdinand – Commanded the back magnificently as you would expect from the veteran. Solid display on a tricky surface. 8

Vidic – He had a decent game besides one or two silly errors which could have haunted him another day. Poor communication with his keeper and teammates at times. Needs to be back to his best in time for the next few games. 7

Evra – Solid overall and even managed to make a forward surge here and there. You’d think his position would be under threat from somewhere judging by today’s display.. 7

Valencia – He didn’t make me want to pull my hair out which is a nice start. Harsh, actually. Got a really good assist. Want to see him more involved though. 6

Cleverley – Sat back and let his teammate do all the attacking football. Not sure if I’m a fan of that but didn’t do too much wrong, or right. Another average performance from an average footballer. Average all-round.  5

Carrick – Did well going forward but I have to say that I’m not a big fan of this box to box Carrick. Much rather see him as our reliable anchor.  His new position hints at a DM coming in before Sept though so it might be better in the long run. 7

Giggs – It’s incredible that he’s still getting games for us but even more so that he’s actually adding a real attacking element to the team. He can still do a job. 6

Welbeck – I like Danny. He gets a lot of unjustified hate but he seemed confident and resourceful on the ball today. Only downside was his silly mistake which lead to us conceding. He’ll improve with age, unless he starts taking career advice from Wayne Rooney. 8

Van Persie – What is the for me to say about this marvellous man that hasn’t already been said? His first goal was astonishing. If I tried lifting my leg that high to kick a ball, I’d develop a hernia, and yet his second goal was even better. The turn, the shot and the power behind it. Ruthless. Isn’t it wonderful having a genuine world class player in your attack? Love it.  9

Subs:

Fat Scouse T**t – Came on, looked disinterest, was offside a lot, showed off his tramp-like beard and grabbed an assist. Think that’s a fair summary. 7

Anderson – Looks like his weight is still in the double digits category so that means preseason worked. Didn’t see much of the ball after coming on though.

He may be a fat scouse tw@t but he played well. he actually looked fit .. not match fit but not 2 stone overweight either. the fact that he came back fit because he wants out annoys me greatly but if he stays he’ll want to play .. its a world cup year and as long as Engand qualify that’ll mean more endorsements etc

As much has i had issues with Wayne Rooneys request for a transfer and his attitude and loyalty towards our club,
Your description of him at Swansea was way over the top,
and not what a true Manchester United supporter would support, You are a piece of Crap, probably jumped on the Man United bandwagon in the last few years, not like the genuine supporters who have spent their whole lives supporting the club they love, As much as i felt like getting stuck into wayne,
its you and people like you who need the shit kicked out of them, twenty-four hours is no time at all to fly to England
from Australia, and get the gloves on at Manchester Town Hall, You up for it you piece of Rubbish?.

What an ignorant preillusioned crap of an article. Apart from Jones not ever going to be a fullback, this is utterly rubbish

This is a great game and a great start for Man Utd.

    My thoughts:

De Gea – Not much action. Average. 5.5

Ferdinand – Irreplacable center defender. Stable and good delivery. 8

Vidic – Pretty good start and made good partnership with Rio. They are the best 2 center back all time. 7.5

Evra – Still strong run on the left. Lack of defence as always but gave lots of attack on the left flank. 7

Valencia – Made less attack on right flank comparing with Evra. Still lacking of good decision making, skill and crossing. Giving up his #7 shirt was the best decision so far. 4.5

Cleverly – Lack of skill, bad decision making, bad ball passing. Didn’t know how to create good attack. 2

Carrick – Several passing mistake but not serious. Still a consistent midfielder. 6

Giggs – Still maintaining his momentum. But, I really don’t want to see him too much because it means Man Utd is still lacking of good player. 6

Wellbeck – Still lacking of sense of team work, passing and skill. And, should be responsible to the rival’s goal because of his miss-controlling the ball. The bright side is he got two goal in the first day was better than his total last season. Good beginning but still not looking good. 6

RVP – MOTM. He is definitely higher class than his teammates. 9

    Subs:

Rooney – After he was out, the midfield got more creative and chance. Still an important person in the team. 7

    Anderson – N/A

Up United. What a fantastic performance! More of that as we start our title defense. United for life
