The new boss gets his grade. The chaps at Full Time Devils don’t seem to learn- they keep asking yours truly to give my opinions on United- so as long as they do, I will. This time round it was an assessment of David Moyes first few weeks into the job properly and how he’s done.
Although many may feel he’s been pretty unimpressive in the early part of his tenure, I still think Moyes’ hasn’t been as dreadful as he’s been made out to be. There’s an easy run of games coming up so don’t be surprised if come November we’re all chanting “every single one of us loves David Moyes” – sort of.
David Moyes has probability hired you to launder his image. It won’t work. Right from the onset, every true and dedicated United fan with a deep knowledge of the game knew Moyes was a square peg in a round hole and it showed immediately from his appointment of backroom staff. Phil Neville a 36 year old Everton player as assistant coach of United? Unthinkable. What can he offer? Nothing. Each time I see the expressions on their faces on the touchline when critical decisions are supposed to be made, I see confusion and directionless written all over them. The earlier the United Board put this nightmare to rest the better for all of us.
