United face Leverkusen in the Champions League tonight, knowing that a loss could throw something of a spanner in the works when it comes to qualifying for the knockout stages. A win would see United through Group A, while a draw would be enough should Shakhtar lose to Sociedad.
David Moyes will be without Robin Van Persie and Nemanja Vidic for the trip while Marouane Fellaini is suspended following his red card in Spain. Michael Carrick and Phil Jones are also carrying knocks leaving United missing some of their key players – and incidentally four of their tallest. It’s not all doom and gloom however as the Reds can still call on the likes of Wayne Rooney, Jonny Evans and Antonio Valencia- who was excellent against Leverkusen at Old Trafford – to hopefully see us through.
Here’s how United could line up tonight:
David De Gea, Rafael, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Patrice Evra, Tom Cleverley, Wayne Rooney, Antonio Valencia, Shinji Kagawa, Nani, Danny Welbeck.
Welbeck leading the line with Kagawa just off him and Rooney in midfield may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it could work for a one-off game with a few key midfielder missing.
Do you agree?
De Gea
Rafael-Evans-Smalling-Evra
Tom Clev-Jones
Valencia-Kagawa-Welbeck
Rooney
remove wellbck nd put chicharito.
