Angel delight- could the winger start today?

United take on Southampton today with Louis Van Gaal admitting he’s got a near fully fit squad to choose from with only Ashley Young unavailable.  With Manchester City dropping points yesterday a win would move the Reds to within seven points of our ‘noisy neighbours and nine behind leaders Chelsea.

While the Reds are unbeaten in their last ten games it’s the amount of draws during that run which has stopped Van Gaal’s men from truly troubling the top two and a win today will be seen as something of a neccesity.

Southampton are still well and truly in the hunt for a Champions League place after a small blip around the time the two sides last faced each other. Since then Ronald Koeman’s side have looked more like the contenders they did at the beginning of the season so even with more players to choose from than ever before Van Gaal will need to get his tactics spot on.

Here’s how the United side could line up today:

[4-2-3-1] David De Gea, Rafael Da Silva, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Angel Di Maria, Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie, Radamel Falcao.

4-2-3-1? With van Persie AND Falcao? I don’t get it? Who’s going to be dropped to being a CAM then? We can play this formation, but drop one of the latter two, I would drop van Persie, then add Juan Mata.

    De Gea
    Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
    Carrick Herrera
    Di Maria Mata Rooney
    Falcao
