Will the skipper be moved back up front?

United’s season may not be one full of exciting, attacking football and dominant performances but it is actually going according to plan when you think about what many of us wanted this campaign. Third in the league and with a good chance of making the last eight of the FA Cup, Louis Van Gaal may not be getting much love from the likes of Paul Scholes but he is acheiving more or less exactly what was asked of him when he took over from David Moyes.

United have already had tough cup trips away at MK Dons and Cambridge United and there’s every reason to expect Preston to be an equally difficult propostion. Van Gaal will be wary of another cup struggle and should pick a strong side tonight for the trip to Deepdale with Wayne Rooney set to be moved from the midfield position which has seen him fail to register a single shot on target during 2015.

Here’s how the Reds could line up:

[4-3-1-2] David De Gea, Paddy McNair, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Tony Valencia, Angel Di Maria, Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie.

I would love a balanced 4-1-4-1…… The striker would be Rooney knowing his confidence stats and as a striking power house…. Then 1 CM who should be herrera should be a playmaker and the other should be a box-to-box midfielder in as much there’s a DMF so the 2nd CM should be Mata and DMF, blind and then the LM and RM should be Ashley and Valencia…… Therefore short passes destroying the defence and then a driving force….. This formation gives go counter attack and a good driving force from the flanks…. The 2nd half, wilson should come in for ashley… Rooney takes his flank and wilson does his magic
