United could be on the verge of signing a new midfielder according to the latest reports.
The mail notes:
Manchester United have moved closer to signing midfield sensation Renato Sanches, who is looking to claim a bonus, after further talks in London on Friday.
The 18-year-old Benfica ace has a buy-out clause of nearly £60million but United are negotiating hard. It is the second time they have met officials of the Lisbon club, after watching Sanches in three of his last four games.
Benfica have put a high price on the teenager but are expected to sell for around half that £60m sum, with add-ons.
£60 million for an 18 year-old may seem excessive- well, let’s face it- it is but as we’ve seen with Anthony Martial sometimes taking an expensive punt on a teenager can prove worth it. While United do have a huge war chest more often than not the Reds have gone for younger players on the cusp of greatness rather than established stars. Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and David De Gea are three examples of players who while costly were bought more for their potential.
Many Reds, myself included, will know very little about Sanches but with such a huge price tag and many jourmalists in Portugal raving about him, he could be just what the Reds need.
