Last chance saloon for United man?

United look set to finalise one last transfer deal before the window shuts according to the latest reports.

Despite the Reds not bringing in any players during January, Louis Van Gaal has been willing to let some leave on loan and Nick Powell appears to be the latest set for a temporary move from Old Trafford.

The Sunday Express notes:

Nick Powell is on the verge of joining Championship side Hull after holding breakthrough talks over a loan deal, according to reports.

Talks are understood to have reached a point where a loan fee is being agreed between the two clubs, with United keen to negotiate a bonus in Powell’s deal if he helps Hull secure promotion to the Premier League.

And in light of these positive talks, Powell is said to be on standby to undergo a medical at the club.

Tigers boss Steve Bruce confirmed his interest in the player on Friday after admitting he has been a fan of the England Under-21 international ever since his Crewe days.

Powell’s United career has been one of frustration and surprises as at one point it seemed to be completely over before his brief reintroduction to the first team during the last remnants of the Champions League campaign. A move to the Championship may offer the former Crewe Alexandra man the final chance to show why Sir Alex brought him to Old Trafford in the first place.
