bale-newThere won’t have been many United fans lamenting the sacking of Rafa Benitez from Real Madrid yesterday. The former Liverpool boss has veered between a figure of hatred and one of ridicule among the Old Trafford faithful due to his spells at Anfield and to a lesser extent Stamford Bridge.

Benitez’s departure from the Bernabeu may yet give United fans even more reasons to be cheerful with reports indicating Gareth Bale is far from happy with the manager’s departure and could be set for a Summer move – with United the favourites to bag his signature.

Bale could represent the perfect Summer marquee signing the board are desperate for at United, especially with sponsors criticising the side’s style of play – something that the former Spurs man would certainly improve. The past week has seen stories in the press of United launching a bid for Neymar this Summer but it’s still doubtful the Brazilian would be willing to move to Manchester. Bale seems a far more likely acquisition and due to his good relationship with Benitez and the uncertainty he now faces it’s a deal that could be make sense for everyone.
