The Reds kept Lukaku quiet.

The Reds kept Lukaku quiet.

Wayne Rooney’s testimonial gave United fans the chance to see some of this Summer’s signings as well as say thanks to the skipper but despite all the excitement the game itself ended up being something of a damp squib.

Here’s how the Reds fared against Ronald Koeman’s side in last night’s 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.

David De Gea. Made some decent saves in the hour that he had on the pitch. Always seems to have a great game against Everton. 7

Antonio Valencia. Got forward at times and is beginning to look like the player he was a few seasons ago. 6

Eric Bailly. Did okay on his Old Trafford debut but still a little way off being ready for the Premier League. 5

Daley Blind. Composed as ever the question is will Jose prefer him to Bailly alongside Smalling. 6

Luke Shaw. Seeing Shaw get forward was a joy to behold, getting back to his best slowly but Shaw-ly. Sorry. 6

Michael Carrick. Actually managed to get forward on occasion. Easy run out for the experienced midfielder. 6

Ander Herrera. Needs to start reminding Jose why the fans love him so much. 6

Jesse Lingard. Lively and almost made something happen but not quite his night. 6

Wayne Rooney. Not the dream testimonial for the skipper as despite some good passes he couldn’t quite create a goal. 6

Anthony Martial. Still looks a little bit off the pace after the Euros. Getting there though and hopefully he’ll be on form for the season opener. 5

Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Excited the crowd everytime he got the ball. Even when he’s not scoring he seems to give everyone a lift. 6

Subs: Juan Mata 5. Marouane Fellaini. 5 Sergio Romero. 6 Ashley Young. 5 Marcus Rashford. 6  Henrikh Mkhitaryan. 5 Memphis. 5

A draw at home to Everton won’t see United’s online soccer odds drop for their title chances but if the Reds can finally land Paul Pogba and lift the Community Shield then that could all change.

United will look to get a good start to the season and the Wembley showpiece this Sunday presents the perfect opportunity.
